October 17th, Day 1, Fourth blog entry

Ok, I know you readers may be tiring of oyster pictures, but those of us who were there want to relive that memory so bear with me or just skip ahead to other scenes.

It was just so remarkable to be able to eat an oyster that had just been plucked from the beach. You just can't get any fresher than that.

I am not as big an oyster fan as some other members of my family, but these were just so excellent. My only regret was that we didn't bring cold beer down with us so we could have washed down the salty taste. The salt water made them good, but I felt like I needed a chaser.

This is a tiny crab, don't know what kind. NO, we didn't eat it, or any crabs on this trip.

Another creature that was living under the same rock as the crab was this eel. I think Kirk called it a wolf eel. Even as small as it was it looked very menacing, like it wanted to bite. Didn't eat it either.

This is the outside of an oyster shell, showing how the barnacles grabbed on. They also latched onto the rocks but seemed to prefer the oyster shells.

  1. Never tried oysters without sauce and crackers. Probably never will, but sounds fun to have them so fresh.
