Day 2, October 18th, Second blog entry

A few miles down the road from where we stayed was a restaurant on the water. Even though it was a bit chilly, we opted to sit outside. No, we were NOT just trying to avoid the teenagers. We really wanted to sit where we could enjoy the local scenery. We hillbillys don't often get the chance to experience dining on the water's edge like this.

Look past the loving couple and you can see a man in a fishing boat. He is retrieving fish from a gill net. Only Indians are allowed to fish with nets in these waters.

Here he is bringing his catch to the dock. He runs the nets all day long and sells the fish. I believe they were all salmon. He had 3 or 4 from this run.

The ever opportunistic sea gulls waited for handouts. I thought surely it would be tame enough to eat from our hands but no, we had to place the food on the rail.
